Vibrant Living was created in September 2013 in response to an identified need for accessible, compassionate mental health services for older adults and their families.
My vision for this practice was to break down the common barriers to older adults seeking mental healthcare.
The first barrier is transportation. To address this, your therapy sessions can be held in-home - meaning, I come to you! No need to schedule a Metro Mobility ride or wait for a family member to bring you to an office. You are able to receive compassionate mental health support in the comfort of your own home. Clients love this - they are able to bring out the photo albums and tell me about their grandchildren, and let me meet their cats! Not to mention they get to sit in their favorite recliner while we talk. It adds a personal touch to the experience that clients have found to be very powerful.
The second barrier is cost. Most individuals have high-deductible health plans and will never meet the deductible. Other insurers cover only certain types of mental health professionals and limit your choices of providers. To address this, all of my services are private pay (cash, check, Zelle) which enables my client and I to decide what is best in terms of frequency of sessions and session duration. No insurance company will be telling us “You only have 5 sessions left” let alone saying “We don’t cover in-home therapy.” My client and I get to collaborate on what is best for them in their situation. This is very empowering for clients. Also to address the barrier of cost, my rates are very reasonable, in fact they are around 40% less than the average rate of therapy in the Twin Cities.
I believe that mental health services should be literally and figuratively accessible to all.
During individual, couple, or family sessions, a wide range of topics can be addressed, Examples include:
-End of life decisions
-Chronic or terminal illness
-Caregiver stress
-Depression
-Anxiety
-Dementia
-Family conflict
-Isolation / Loneliness
-Grief and loss (death and non-death losses)
-Life transitions (retirement, moving out of your home of 40 years, etc.)
Therapy is available in-home for Minnesota residents or via telehealth (telephone or Zoom) for Minnesota and Florida residents.
