Research and collaboration
I am passionate about creatively collaborating to maintain and improve the lives of older adults and their families. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice, I work with individuals and families who are experiencing grief and loss, chronic and terminal illness, aging, dementia, and caregiving. I am also a Fellow in Thanatology with expertise in death, dying, and bereavement. I believe everyone benefits when the systems we live within work together to create environments and experiences where older adults and their families can thrive.
I have experience with mixed-methods research including clinical interventions and self-report surveys. I am passionate about connecting the clinical to the research to the practical application. My experience includes survey design, data collection, intervention implementation, semi-structured interviews, qualitative data analysis, and writing/publishing results.
I was the lead Clinical Interventionist on a 5-year NIA grant that evaluated a semi-structured support intervention for caregivers of individuals with dementia who had moved into residential long-term care. I have an ongoing collaboration with Jessica Finlay, PhD whose work focuses on aging adults. Most recently we published a paper on Covid-19 and grief among ageing adults. My ResearchGate profile has more information about my past research and publications.
I am open to future collaborations with researchers and clinicians on topics that advance the lives of older adults, their families, clinicians, students, and more. Contact me if you have ideas!
